Egypt midfielder Mohamed Al-Nenni he is linked with a return to boyhood club Ahli despite being linked with Swiss champions Basel. The 20-year-old Arab Contractors midfielder is set for a January trial at Basel, where his Egypt teammate Mohamed Salah plies his trade. However, he spoke of his ambition to re-join African champions Ahli, who released him four years ago. “I was born in Mahalla but my father insisted I would play for no club but Ahli," Al-Nenni told Al-Nahar Sport TV. “So I actually spent 11 years at Ahli, I was team captain and always a regular player, but the club decided to release me when I was 16. “At the time I didn't know what to say to my father, but I promised him that I will make him proud and now he is very happy I am linked with Ahli again, although it is just speculation." Al-Nenni has been a regular for Egypt under the management of Bob Bradley, who picked the midfield starlet 16 times out of 20 games since taking charge last year.
