Mohamed Salah is quickly emerging as one of Egypt's hottest prospects, thanks to a series of impressive displays at the senior and junior levels. Skillful and fast, Salah, who also boasts a good eye for goal, is considered Egypt's deadliest weapon in the London Games, where they were drawn to play Brazil, Belarus and New Zealand in Group C. A Salah-inspired Egypt qualified for the Olympics for the first time since 1992 after finishing third at the African Championship last year. The 21-year-old, who came through the youth ranks of Arab Contractors, was also instrumental in helping Egypt reach the quarter-finals of the 2011 U-20 World Cup. He scored the only goal in the team's 2-1 quarter-final defeat by Argentina. He consequently became a key member of Egypt's senior team squad under American coach Bob Bradley. Often deployed as a winger in a three-pronged attack, Salah took part in Egypt's first two World Cup qualifiers and notched a last-gasp winner in the thrilling 3-2 victory at Guinea. At club level, he joined Swiss giants FC Basel on a four-year deal after reportedly turning down offers from Cairo giants Ahly and Zamalek. “I respect Ahly and Zamalek, but my dreams lie in Europe. FC Basel is just a step and I hope I could go further more,” he said. With such talent and ambitions, the sky is his limit. “I hope to make a good impact with my teammates in London and I also want to play in the 2014 World Cup 2014,” Salah added.
