Ghana defeat was difficult test for Egypt's youngsters: Bradley Egypt coach Bob Bradley says lack of experience cost the team in their 3-0 defeat by Ghana in Thursday's friendly game
Coach Bob Bradley admitted Egypt's youngsters faced a stern test against a more experienced Ghana side, who claimed a 3-0 victory in a friendly game in the United Arab Emirates on Thursday. The Black Stars outplayed an Egypt side shorn of a handful of regular players, including Hull City's Ahmed Elmohamady, Al-Nasr's Hosni Abd-Rabou, Al-Wasl's Mahmoud Abdel-Razek 'Shikabala' and Ahly stars Mohamed Abou-Treika, Mohamed Nagui 'Gedo' and Abdallah El-Said. “The defeat was down to lack of experience and some individual mistakes. The match was a difficult test for the young players,” American boss Bradley, who is tasked with ending Egypt's long wait for a World Cup appearance, told the post-match news conference. “There is no link between that defeat and our 2-0 (friendly) victory over Qatar, because Ghana are a completely different team.” Egypt, who will not appear at this month's Africa Cup of Nations, should welcome back Ahly's players when they take on the Ivory Coast in their next friendly game on Monday. “The Ivory Coast game will be another difficult test. We will learn from our mistakes against Ghana, and we will be helped by the return of Ahly players,” Bradley added. The Pharaohs, who have not qualified for the World Cup since 1990, host Zimbabwe in March in their third World Cup qualifier. They top Group G with six points from two games, three ahead of second-placed Guinea. Zimbabwe and Mozambique have one point each.
