Egypt's Hegazy leaves hospital, Fiorentina don't seek alternative Fiorentina have sufficient alternatives for the Pharaohs injured defender to recuperate
Egypt and Fiorentina injured defender Ahmed Hegazy has left the hospital Tuesday after a successful knee surgery, securing his place with the Italian giants, who will not seek an alternative for him in the winter transfer window. The Pharaohs stopper suffered a rupture in his anterior knee ligament during a training session earlier this month. It is huge blow for the 21-year-old player, who only made his debut with Viola three weeks ago since joining them in the summer. Hegazy, who underwent a successful surgery last week, will be out of action with Viola for at least five months. "Hegazy left the Hospital of Villa Stuart today. From now, he will start his rehabilitation process," Italian newspaper Corrieredellosport revealed on Tuesday. Despite the blow that Hegazy's absence for Fiorentina defence, the Italian club will not sign an alternative when the winter transfer window starts next month. "The January market is one of repair, one you need when you have major injuries," the Serie A club's sporting director Daniele Prade told the club's website. "We have lost Ahmed Hegazy, but we have alternatives," he added. Hegazy, who made a huge impact scoring in Fiorentina's 2-0 win over Juve Stabia in the fourth round of the Italian Cup, would be a major doubt for Egypt's world cup qualifier against Zimbabwe in March 2013.
