Newcastle boss backs Senegal's misfiring striker Cisse Alan Pardew backs Newcastle Senegalese striker Papiss Cisse, who suffers from lack of cutting edge this season
Newcastle manager Alain Pardew said on Wednesday he is confident that Senegalese striker Papiss Cisse will regain his form soon after enduring a barren run lately. The 27-year-old, who impressed in the English Premier League the last season after scoring 13 goals in his first 14 appearances, has only scored three goals this season in all competitions. Several English reports likened him to Chelsea's Spanish striker Fernando Torres, who is finding it difficult to replicate his Liverpool form. "It's only been a small period if you compare it to Torres, but you would have to say it's something we are going to keep an eye on because we don't want it to end up like poor old Torres, " Pardew was quoted as saying by Sky Sports on Wednesday. "I am talking to him and trying to calm him, tell him that he's still the same player and we are still very confident in him," he added.
