Senegal's Cisse eyes long-term stay at Newcastle Senegal's goal machine Papiss Cisse prefers to stay at Newcastle, dreams of Champions League experience next season
Senegal's striker Papiss Cisse has insisted that he wants to remain with English Premier League club Newcastle United for many years. The 27-year-old striker has made an impressive show at the Premier League since his arrival from Bundesliga side Freiburg in January, scoring 13 goals in 14 appearances with Newcastle. Recent rumours claimed that the player's outstanding performance could earn him a big-money move soon, but the player has rejected this, committing his future to the Magpies. "I am very happy with Newcastle and I want to stay there for many years," Cisse told Sky Sports. Seeing his team losing hope of next year's UEFA Champions League after finishing season fifth, the Senegalese international expressed belief that the team would be at the European prestigious tournament next season. "We were close to a Champions League position so next season hopefully we will qualify for that and everyone will taste the Champions League," he said. "I am looking forward to next season." Despite missing a penalty for his national team during Saturday's 3-1 win over Liberia in World Cup qualifiers, Cisse is optimistic about scoring again. "I am disappointed to miss a penalty but the most important thing for us is winning the match," he explained. "Next time I might score again. I am very upset for our fans, but anyone can miss a penalty." (For more sports news and updates, follow Ahram Online Sports on Twitter: @AO Sports)
