BBC Radio 3 to feature young Egyptian musicians Sunday On Sunday 29 July, BBC Radio 3 live will broadcast Aldeburgh World Orchestra conducted by Sir Mark Elder featuring Egyptian musicians Marcellino Safwat and Mirette Hanna
BBC Radio 3 broadcast will air from the Royal Albert Hall, London with presenter Louise Fryer. Aldeburgh World Orchestra, which comprises a brand new ensemble of young musicians, will feature Egyptian musicians Marcellino Safwat, the youngest member of the Aldeburgh World Orchestra, and Mirette Hanna. According to BBC Radio, the artists were "chosen by audition, and with a strict limit of twenty musicians from each continent." The first segment of the programe will include Britten's Sinfonia da Requiem and Mahler's Symphony No. 10 - Adagio. The second segment will include Charlotte Bray's At the speed of stillness (BBC commission: world premiere) and Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring. Tune to on BBC Radio 3 on Sunday 29 July at 7:15pm (CMT) for an introduction; 9:00pm for pieces by Britten and Mahler; 10:10pm for Bray and Stravinsky.
