Egypt footballer Hisham Mohamed to miss London Olympics Coach Hany Ramzy will have to do without midfielder Hisham Mohamed in the next month's Olympic as the player broke his leg during Sudan match in Arab Cup
Egypt Under-23 midfielder Hisham Mohamed will miss the 2012 London Olympics after sustaining an injury during Sudan 1-1 draw in Group C game of the Arab Cup in Saudi Arabia. “The player will not continue the Arab Cup and I don't think he can recover his serious injury before the Olympics that kicks off next month,” the Olympics team manager Hany Ramzy told the Middle East News Agency (MENA) on Monday. Ahly player, who is waiting to move to Maqassa soon, was dangerously tackled in the 16th minute of the match and was taken to hospital. Before returning back to Egypt, “Hisham broke left shinbone and it had to be put into a cast” as his Ramzy confirmed. “The team will really miss the efforts of the talented player but no worries as we have many substitutes in his position,” Ramzy added. Egypt were drawn in Group C that also includes Brazil, Belarus and New Zealand. (For more sports news and updates, follow Ahram Online Sports on Twitter: @AO Sports / and facebook AhramOnlineSports)
