Egypt's Olympic team were held to a 1-1 draw by Sudan in their opening Group C game of the Arab Cup. Ghazl El-Mahalla midfielder Ahmed Magdy put Egypt ahead four minutes before the break after being set up by Shehab Ahmed but Sudan secured a share of spoils 10 minutes from time, thanks to a goal from Moawya Beshir. Zamalek striker Amr Zaki played his first game with the Olympic team after coming on as a second-half substitute while Harras El-Hodoud forward Ahmed Eid was included in the starting line-up. Zaki and Eid were shortlisted by coach Hany Ramzi to be named as two of the three over-age players who will take part in the Olympics at the end of this month. Egypt's Olympic side played in the regional tournament instead of the national senior team as they gear up for the London Games. Iraq defeated Lebanon 1-0 in the other Group C game earlier in the day. Egypt will face Iraq on Wednesday while Sudan will meet Lebanon.
