Courbis quit as Niger manager
French coach Rolland Courbis quits Niger after his requests are ignored
Published in Ahram Online on 08 - 06 - 2012

Rolland Coubis has decided this Thursday to quit his functions as Niger coach just three weeks after having been officially appointed.
The decision to leave was taken by the Frenchman after a list of his suggestions and practices had been ignored by the Nigerian Federation.
“We met again after the game against Algeria and I left them a list of things to do in order for us to progress.”
“Not much, actually nothing of it was achieved. I got angry more than once for things that I found inacceptable. There was a problem that needed solving every five minutes.”
“I decided I would rather leave in good terms keeping friendly relations with the Association”, Courbis told radio RMC.
“I didn't come here in Niger to play the professor. I just wanted to help the people”, the former Marseille and Montpellier coach added.
“How can you explain that the team trains three days in a row for 90 minutes on a synthetic pitch that is more likely to be a pizza oven? At the end, they need eight days for the players and their feet to recover” Courbis ironically concluded.
Rolland Courbis was first appointed as technical advisor for former coach Harouna Doula before replacing him just a few weeks ago.
The Mena selection will be RD Congo's hosts next Saturday in a game counting for the second round of the 2014 world cup qualifiers in Pointe Noire after a goalless draw with Gabon in their opener.]
