Burkina Faso secured their place in next year's Africa Cup of Nations following a goalless draw away to Uganda in their penultimate qualifier on Wednesday. The Stallions are now on top of Group B with nine points, just one ahead of second-placed Uganda. They became the sixth team to qualify after holders Algeria, Mali, Senegal, Tunisia and hosts Cameroon. Meanwhile, Malawi revived their hopes in the qualifiers after claiming a precious 1-0 away win over South Sudan, which kept them third with seven points. Malawi will be desperate for a win when they host Uganda in the final round of the qualifiers to book the second qualifying ticket of the group. In Group K, Ethiopia kept their hopes alive after thrashing Madagascar 4-0 at home to top the group with nine points from five games. Amanuel Gebremichael opened the scoring in the 19th minute and Getaneh Kebede doubled the lead 15 minutes later. Abubeker Nassir made it 3-0 four minutes before the break and Egyptian-based winger Shimeles Bekele completed the rout with four minutes remaining. Cote d'Ivoire who are second in the group with seven points will have a chance to overtake the Ethiopians if they defeat Niger on Thursday. Ethiopia will have a mountain to climb in the final round when they visit Cote d'Ivoire as a loss in Abidjan could shatter their qualification hopes, given that Madagascar, who have seven points, will have an easy test at home against bottom side Niger.
