Egypt's Pyramids FC beat Tanzania's Namungo to proceed in Confederation Cup

Egypt's Pyramids FC edged took another successful step in the African Confederation Cup group stage after beating Tanzania's Namungo FC 1-0 away in the second round on Wednesday.
Two second-half goals by winger Ramadan Sobhi and midfielder Omar Gaber granted last season's runners-up a precious three points to continue their perfect start of the group stage campaign of Africa's secondary club competition. Pyramids claimed an easy 3-0 win over Zambian side Nkana in the opening match at home last week.
The Egyptian Premier League's rising power Pyramids, who had a poor start to the season, continued their recent fine run with Wednesday's late win over Namungo; securing their fifth straight win in different competitions.
Pyramids now lead Group D with six points, three ahead of second placed Raja of Morocco, while Namungo and Nkana come third and fourth respectively with zero points for each. Nkana will be facing Raja later on Wednesday.
Despite the several changes made by Argentinean boss Rodolfo Arruabarrena in the starting line-up, Pyramids failed to pose a real threat to the hosts in the first half.
Namungo piled on more pressure directly after the interval, but Pyramids' second half substitute winger Mohamed Farouk proved his worth, helping in several attacks on the Tanzanians' goal in the last half hour.
Pyramids kept fighting for the opener before being granted a precious penalty thanks to active winger Farouk, who fell into a challenge inside the area with defender Kalos Kirenge.
In-form winger Ramadan Sobhi cleverly converted the penalty on minute 71 to break the deadlock and give the visitors a long-awaited lead.
Pyramids' dominance continued in the dying minutes as Farouk sent a perfect pass to second half substitute midfielder Omar Gaber, who cleverly added the second goal from a clear shot just six minutes before the final whistle.
Under the guidance of coach Arruabarrena, Pyramids reached the final of the same tournament last season, where they were defeated by Morocco's Nahdet Berkane in a controversial game.
