Preview: Rejuvenated Pyramids FC eyeing opening group win over Zambia's Nkana
Published in Ahram Online on 09 - 03 - 2021

Pyramids FC will take heart from their recent fine results as they kick off their Confederation Cup group-stage campaign at home to Zambia's Nkana on Wednesday.
The big-spending side have made a poor start to their domestic league season but have shown signs of recovery with two consecutive wins over Masry and Aswan to temporarily climb up to second in the table.
Their recent victories eased pressure on Argentinean coach Rodolfo Arruabarrena, who will be now looking to maintain this run at the expense of Nkana in their opening game of Group D, which also includes Tanzania's Namungo and Moroccan giants Raja.
"Opening matches are always important," Arruabarrena told a news conference previewing the Nkana game.
"Nkana is a strong team that has plenty of experience in African competitions and facing them won't be easy.
"But we are fully ready and focused to grab an opening victory, especially that our recent results have been very good," he added.
Nkana are struggling in the Zambian league as they lie third from bottom with 20 points from 17 matches.
"It has not been good the way we have performed in the league but the slight consolation for us is that we have done better in the CAF Confederation Cup," Nkana coach Kelvin Kaindu was quoted as saying by Zambian media.
"We face Pyramids FC, they are a good team who have gotten points both home and away and we are slightly cautious about them."
