Egypt condemns in the strongest terms an attempt to target the Saudi capital with a missile and affirms its support to the Kingdom in facing all forms of terrorism, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said on Monday. The Saudi-led coalition in Yemen announced on Saturday intercepting an air projectile launched by the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen toward Riyadh. “Egypt reiterates its support to and stands by the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the measures it takes to defend its territories and preserve its security, stability and the safety of its citizens,” the ministry's statement read. The ministry also affirmed Egypt's support to the Saudi's “tireless” efforts in the face of all forms of terrorism and its supporters. “Egypt also reiterates its strong condemnation of such terrorist aggressions that target Saudi Arabia,” the statement added. Saudi Arabia has announced intercepting hundreds of drones and missiles launched by the Houthis over the past few years since the Saudi-led coalition intervened militarily in Yemen in 2015 to support the internationally-recognized government.
