Arab Contractors hammer Djibouti's AS Arta 9-1 to set club record

Egypt's Arab Contractors set a club record for the biggest win in African competitions after hammering Djibouti's Arta Solar 9-1 in the second leg of the Confederation Cup preliminary round to complete a 10-1 aggregate victory on Friday.
Midfielder Ahmed Dawouda needed two minutes to open the scoring from a tight angle before Seifeddine Jaziri scored twice in the space of 10 minutes to end the match as a contest.
Burkinabe defender Farouck Kabore headed home on 22 minutes to add the fourth and Dawouda netted again with a delightful chip on 35 minutes as Contractors went to the locker room with a 5-0 lead.
Mohamed Essam converted a penalty six minutes after the restart before further goals from Fadi Nagah, Ahmed El-Sheemy and Karim Mostafa completed a historic victory for Contractors.
The Mountain Wolves eclipsed their 7-0 win over Somalia's Horseed FC in the 1984 Cup Winners' Cup. They face a tough clash against Tunisia's Etoile Sahel in the Confederation Cup round of 32.
Contractors last made an African appearance in 2005 when they failed to progress beyond the group stage of the Confederation Cup.
Last season, Pyramids FC were close to becoming the third Egyptian side to win Africa's secondary competition after Cairo's Ahly and Zamalek, only to lose 1-0 to Morocco's RS Berkane in the final.
