Benin could replace Angola in Egypt friendlies at UAE Benin may replace Angola in a friendly with former African champions Egypt in UAE; Nigeria and Iraq matches to be held on time
Egypt may play a friendly match with Benin instead of Angola at the team's current UAE training camp, the national team's managing director Samir Adly said on Wednesday. The seven-times African Cup of Nations (CAN) champions arrived in Dubai Tuesday to play three friendly games against Nigeria, Angola and Iraq, on 12, 14 and 17 April respectively, amid their preparations for 2014 World Cup qualifiers and the 2013 edition of the CAN. "Both the Nigerian and Iraqi sides sent their official approvals for the two friendlies, but the Angolan FA did not, so the game could be cancelled," Adly told Reuters. "The camp's sponsor company may reach an agreement to play with Benin instead," he added. Under the helms of American coach Bob Bradley, the Egyptian team is suffering a little bit in preparing for its upcoming important matches, as all domestic football activities have since been suspended since Port Said Stadium Disaster last February.
