Presidential hopeful and labour lawyer Khaled Ali announced that he is to collect the documents needed for official registration for the presidential elections on Thursday. He is set to go to the Supreme Presidential Electoral Commission in the suburb of Heliopolis, Cairo to collect the documents before the deadline on the 8 April, 2012. The Commission's rules for potential candidates require them to secure the support of 30 elected Members of Parliament, collect the signatures of 30,000 Egyptian citizens from at least 15 Egyptian governorates or secure the backing of a political party that holds at least one seat in parliament.
