Ismaily are expecting English offer for star defender Hegazy Ahmed Hegazy's proposed move to Italian side Fiorentina may fall through, as Ismaily say they are expecting an English offer for the highly-rated defender
Ismaily said on Saturday they are expecting an offer from an unnamed English Premier League club to sign promising defender, Ahmed Hegazy, in the summer. The Egyptian coastal club revealed in December that they had accepted a 1.5 million Euro ($1.97) bid from Italy's Fiorentina to acquire Hegazy's services. However, differences over whether to pay the amount in cash or installments threw into doubt the possibility of Hegazy joining the Serie A side. "The club is waiting for an offer from an English Premier League club to sign Hegazy, via agent Samir El-Sayed," Ismaily said in a statement on their official website. "El-Sayed asked Ismaily to negotiate with the English side on the club's behalf. He also said the interested club is willing to pay twomillion Euros ($2.6 million) to sign the player. "The agent has been given five days to finalise negotiations. Ismaily will not make further comments unless an official bid is put on the table." The defender rose to prominence after a series of impressive displays with Egypt's junior sides last year. Specifically, he was lauded for his solid defence in Egypt's U-20 World Cup campaign in Colombia, where they were knocked out only at the hands of Argentina at the last-16 stage. He also played a pivotal role in helping Egypt qualify for next year's Olympic Games in London after they finished third at the U-23 African Championship in Morocco. The 21-year-old made his senior team debut in Egypt's 2-0 defeat by five-time world champions Brazil in a friendly game in the Qatari capital, Doha in November.
