An Egyptian member of parliament has taken over the presidency of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM) for a one-year term as of February 2020. Jordanian senator Aliaa Bouran, who occupied the chairmanship post of the PAM last year, handed over her responsibilities to her Egyptian counterpart Kareem Darwish, who is the head of the Egyptian parliament's foreign affairs committee, Darwish said in a statement sent to Ahram Online on Saturday.
Founded in 2005, PAM is made up of representatives of the Mediterranean countries' parliaments, with its presidency rotating annually between the members.
