Staff report: CAIRO, July 03, 2018 - Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukri conferred in Berlin Tuesday with the German minister of the interior and discussed Egypt's efforts in combatting illegal migration, the Comprehensive Operation Sinai 2018 which proved successful in destroying the infrastructure of the terror groups in North Sinai and means of coordinating efforts of the two countries especially in training, exchange of information and provision of equipment required for anti-terrorism operations. FM Shoukri is scheduled to hold several meetings with German officials in both the government and parliament, to tackle the economic, investment and trade co-operation that is a reflection of the huge momentum that the Egyptian-German relations have built up. The top Egyptian diplomat is due to meet his German counterpart; the German ministers of transport and digital infrastructure, and economic and development co-operation; the head of the Egyptian-German Friendship Association in the German parliament and members of the association. He is also scheduled to hold meetings with the head of the parliamentary group of the ruling coalition, the head of the economic and development committee and the adviser on foreign and security affairs at the German Chancellery. The foreign minister's tour is aimed at following up and strengthening relations between Egypt, Germany and Austria and coordinating activities with European partners in light of Austria's rotating chairmanship of the European Union.
