Handball: Pharaohs fly to Sweden, ready for World Championship After a good performance in a friendly tournament in Spain, the Egyptian national handball team heads to Sweden for the 2011 World Championship
Egypt's national handball team have left for Sweden, for the 2011 World Cup which will take place on 13-30 January. The team ended their preoperational tournament in Spain, where they played 3 games. The Pharaohs delivered a good performance at the friendly championship, although they were been defeated by the host 37-21 in the last game on Sunday. Egypt coach Uwe Lommel had made the best use of the Spain trip as he raised the enthusiasm of his new international players. “I decided to give the experienced players a break in order not to reveal my key players' abilities to our opponent,” Lommel said. The Pharaohs are hocked up with Spain in a tough group (A) in the World Championship, alongside France, Germany, Tunisia and Bahrain. The top three teams in each group will advance to the main round. The last three teams in each group will play placement matches.
