Gabon skipper Daniel Cousin believes the coachmadeseveral decisions that led to thedefeat against Mali in the quarter finals of the African Cup of Nations 2012. “We lacked freshness. We did some mistakes and conceded a goal we shouldn't have. But also I question some choices that have been made. We had physically fresh players on the bench that could have helped them if they were brought earlier on the pitch,” the 35-year old striker told Afrik Presse. Mali cancelled Gabon's leadto win the match on penalties 5-4 and seemed the better side at the end of the game. Cousin is also unhappy after the German coach Gernot Rohr substituted him in the 60th minute. “I heard that the coach claimed it was me who wanted to get substituted. That's not true I was ready to play the entire game. Of course after playing all the games I am not a 100 per cent but I could have helped the team.” The former Hull City and Lens striker stressed that they targeted the semis but that they are satisfied with what they accomplished and the whole country is proud of that team. Talking about Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, he said, “he missed the penalty, it could happen to anyone. It's a gamble. We tried to comfort him, he is the best Gabonese player and it is courtesy to him that we went that far. Now we have to put the tournament behind and look towards the CAN 2013,” he concluded.
