Political forces demand new government following Port Said violence
People's Assembly called upon to withdraw its confidence in Kamal El-Ganzouri's government and the military council is held responsible for the deaths of over 70 fans Wednesday night

Egypt's political forces have responded to the Port Said disaster by demanding that the newly elected parliament withdraws all confidence in the government after more than 70 fans were killed following a pitch invasion in Wednesday's Premier League match between Ahly and Masry.
The demand was voiced in a statement read by El-Sayed El-Badawy, the head of the liberal Wafd Party, after a three-hour meeting with representatives of Egypt's various political forces as well as revolutionary youth, and members of parliament. The meeting was also attended by potential presidential candidates Hazem Abu Ismail and Ayman Nour.
They demanded that the newly-elected parliament, which will hold an emergency meeting Thursday, issue a vote of no confidence in Prime Minister Kamal El-Ganzouri's government and forms a new “revolutionary” cabinet capable of securing the country. The meeting's attendees also demanded that the ruling military council accelerates the process towards presidential elections, scheduled for June, and transfers power to an elected authority.
The group also held the military council responsible for the deaths in the stadium and demanded that all those responsible be brought to justice.
The meeting was also attended by representatives of The Free Egyptians Party, The Democratic Front Party, The National Association for Change, The Revolutionary Youth Coalition, the Nour Party, the Karama Party and the Wasat Party.
