Egypt's Pyramids FC name Argentinean La Volpe as new coach

Argentinean manager Ricardo La Volpe took charge of big-spending club Pyramids FC following the dismissal of Brazilian Alberto Valentim, the Egyptian Premier League club announced late on Friday.
"La Volpe will immediately start his job … he has a great track record as one of the most prominent experts in football coaching," Turki Al-Sheikh, the head of Saudi Arabia's General Sports Authority (GSA) and the owner of Pyramids, said on his Facebook page.
Pyramids, formerly known as Assiouty Sport, made some record signings in the summer after being taken over by Al-Sheikh.
Although they are joint top with seven points from three games in the Egyptian Premier League, Al-Sheikh has seemingly grown impatient with some uninspiring displays.
He terminated the contract of Valentim after reports also said the coach was unhappy with the sudden departure of Brazilian striker Ribamar, who was allowed to join Saudi Arabia's Ohod just a few days after his double salvo gave Pyramids a 2-1 league win over Talae El-Geish.
La Volpe has a vast experience in South America, where he led a host of clubs and national teams, including Argentinean giants Boca Juniors and Mexico's Guadalajara.
A World Cup winner as a player with Argentina in 1978, La Volpe's best managerial achievement was guiding Mexico to the Gold Cup title in 2003.
