We are aiming for more than just a top-four finish: Pyramids club spox
Published in Ahram Online on 30 - 06 - 2018

Newly appointed Pyramids Club spokesman Ahmed Hassan has said the club are aiming for more than just a top-four finish, while investing in players with the potential of becoming future Mohamed Salahs.
Speaking in a lengthy interview with ON Sport, Hassan revealed the strategy and ambitions of the newly founded club, formerly known as Assiouty Sports before an anonymous Saudi investor bought the club.
"We are looking forward to achieving more than just a top-four position," former Anderlecht, Ahly and Zamalek star midfielder Hassan said.
"Of course I want to win the league title, but if not, we are aiming to go as far as possible. Maybe qualifying for the Champions League or winning the Egypt Cup.
"The club investor preferred to invest in Egypt instead of investing in Europe. Such investment will surely increase the value of the domestic league, as the Egyptian national team will benefit as well.
"We are investing in players who we think have the potential to become like Mohamed Salah in the future. We want to export many Mohamed Salahs.
"We brought in four Brazilian players in addition to the Syrian Omar Al-Midani, while retaining some Assiouty Sport players.
"So far we have announced the signing of Abdallah El-Bakri, Mohamed Hamdi, Ahmed Khaled, Ragab Bakkar, Nasser Mansi, Mohamed Farouk and Mohamed “Afsha” Magdi in addition to the aforementioned Brazilians.
"Pyramids will be securing the highest sponsorship deal in the Egyptian league, a deal which will be higher than the contracts Ahly and Zamalek have."
The anonymous Saudi investor who bought the club is reported to be the chairman of the country's General Authority of Sport Turki Al-Sheikh.
The club is also reportedly in the process of signing several key figures in Egyptian football to strengthen their ranks ahead of the upcoming season.
The technical staff of the team are all Brazilian, under the helm of former Botafogo manager Alberto Valentim.
