Over 10 thousand attendees during the month of Ramadan: Cairo Opera House
Published in Ahram Online on 16 - 06 - 2018

Over 10 thousand attendees came to watch a total of 49 Cairo Opera House events during the holy month of Ramadan, which ended on 14 June, revealed opera house's chairman Magdy Saber in an official statement.
The events were staged across several venues, in Cairo, Alexandria and Damanhour, offering a multitude of artistic performances.
The events spanned from Western classical music to performances of traditional Arabic and beyond. The concerts included the Cairo Symphony Orchestra, chamber ensembles, Al Nour Wal Amal Orchestra, as well as The National Orchestra for Arab Music, Al Hadra Troupe, Dina El Wedidi, Hazem Shaheen and his band, Fathy Salama with Sheikh Mahmoud El-Tohamy, Tunisian singer Ghalia Benali, among other artists representing numerous music genres.
The concerts also included performances by five guest countries from the Arab and Islamic World -- Indonesia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Tunisia, Kazakhstan and Sudan -- each showcasing their traditional arts and music.
At the opera's open air theatre 24 of the events took place, inviting the audience to spend refreshing evenings with music.
For Magdy Saber, this was the first Ramadan season at the Cairo Opera House since his appointment as the opera's chairperson in January this year.
