Preview: Ahly look to extend unbeaten Egyptian league run in Arab Contractors game
Published in Ahram Online on 07 - 02 - 2018

After hammering Ittihad of Alexandria 3-0 last week, Ahly will be looking to extend their winning streak in the Egyptian League when they face Arab Contractors in an adjourned game at Petro Sport Stadium on Thursday.
The league leaders have not lost to Arab Contactors since 2015 and come into this match on the back of eight consecutive league wins that allowed them to take the lead of the league table with 54 points, nine ahead of second-placed Ismaily.
A win in Thursday's clash will extend the gap to 12 points and bring Ahly closer to a 40 League title.
The 39-time Egyptian champions continue to be without defenders Rami Rabia and Saad Samir, who have been sidelined for weeks.
Tunisian fullback Ali Maaloul and Walid Soliman will also miss Thursday's clash after suffering injuries last week.
Coach Hossam El-Badry regained the services of horse-worker Hossam Ashour after recovering from his muscle injury.
On the other hand, Arab Contractors will be looking to get back to winning ways as they were held to three draws in a row during the past three games, which placed them seventh on the league table with 31 points.
They expressed their displeasure over the date of Thursday's game as they will face Ahly another time on Monday.
"It is not normal that we face Ahly twice in four days," Arab Contractors official Mohamed Adel told reporters on Tuesday.
"Ahly are a good team but we are determined to perform well against them," Arab Contactors midfielder Ibrahim Salah added.
