Sunderland concede first home defeat

In their first-ever visit to the Stadium of Light, Blackpool defeated Sunderland 2-0 on Tuesday, to end their unbeaten home record in the 2010/2011 campaign.
Dudley Campbell netted twice in the 50 and 90th minute to take Blackpool to the 8th place of the table with 25 points, two behind seventh-placed Sunderland.
Steve Bruce had to watch his men waste at least a dozen clear chances on goal and drop some crucial points for the second game in a row after last Sunday's defeat against Manchester United.
Egypt's winger Ahmed Elmohamady had a second consecutive starting role playing at the right-back position.
He had a few contributions over 60 minutes then Bruce opted to give him more license to attack.
He shone on the right wing, delivering many crosses and even had an important effort on goal but his shot was denied by a tackling defender.
Despite being convinced of his attacking contributions, Bruce kept Elmohamady at the right-back, as Nigerian full-back Nedum Onuoha had to quit the game at the half hour mark because of an injury.
Sunderland are suffering from a defense crisis as Bruce has had to reshuffle his backline since the beginning of the season because of the John Mensah, Titus Bramble, Anton Ferdinand and now Onuoha injuries.
