The Cairo Puppet Theatre will offer the performance of El-Leila El-Kebira for free to audiences starting tomorrow for five nights at the Talaat Harb Center. The free performances emerged from a collaboration between The Artistic Theatre House and the Cultural Development Fund. El-Leila El-Kebira (The Grand Night) is the most well-known Egyptian operetta with music by Sayed Mekawy, lyrics by Salah Jahin, original puppets by artist Nagy Shaker, and directed by Salah El-Sakka. The musical saw many adaptations, including The Cairo Opera Ballet Company's version created by Abdel Moneim Kamel in 2001, in which puppets turn into live dancers. Programme: From Tuesday 6 June to Saturday 11 June at 9.30pm Talaat Harb Culture Center, 1 El-Sayeda Nafisa St., El-Sayeda Zeinab, Cairo For more arts and culture news and updates, follow Ahram Online Arts and Culture on Twitter at @AhramOnlineArts and on Facebook at Ahram Online: Arts & Culture
