Cairo Opera Ballet Company will perform three works: El-Leila El-Kebira, Osiris and Oriental Steps

Between 11 and 15 June the Cairo Opera Ballet Company will present Osiris, Oriental Steps and El Leila El Kebira.
El-Leila El-Kebira (The Grand Night), one of the most important musical works of the Arab world, is composed by Sayed Mekkawy to the poetry by Salah Jahin, El-Leila El-Kebira.
The work saw many adaptations — the best known being the puppet theatre show.
The Cairo Opera Ballet Company performs a version created by Abdel Moneim Kamel in 2001, in which puppets turn into live dancers.
One of the standard repertoire elements, El-Leila El-Kebira, is usually performed together with one or two short works danced by the company in the same evening.
Ballet Oriental Steps is based on Attiya Sharara's second violin concerto.
Osiris is composed by Gamal Abdel-Rahim [1924-1988] and it was the first performance was the first performance staged inside the new opera house by the Cairo Ballet Company, before the troupe was renamed to Cairo Opera Ballet Company.
Both Oriental Steps and Osiris are choreographed by late the Abdel Moneim Kamel and brought back to life by the troupe's artistic director, Erminia Kamel.
During the evenings, the Cairo Opera Orchestra will be conducted by Sherif Mohie Eldin.
