Zakareya, Ajayi secure Ahly CL win over Morocco's Wydad

Two goals from Moemen Zakareya and Junior Ajayi gifted Ahly a 2-0 Champions League home victory over Group D rivals Wydad Casablanca at Alexandria's Borg El-Arab Stadium on Sunday.
Buoyed up by their recent coronation as Egyptian league champions, Ahly found no problems overcoming their Moroccan counterparts, thanks to strikes from Zakareya and Ajayi either side of the interval.
The Reds, who managed to make amends for their opening goalless home draw with Zambia's Zanaco with a 2-0 away win at Cotonsport, now reclaimed top spot with seven points.
Zanaco are also level on points with the Cairo giants, but the latter have a better goal difference - having scored four goals and not conceded yet.
Ajayi ensure win with easy goal
In a match that has seen play mainly restricted to midfield with neither side creating many clear-cut chances, Ahly managed to take the lead in the 24th minute through winger Zakareya following a brilliant play by Ajayi.
With Hossam Ashour returning to the side, the holding midfielder intercepted a crucial pass feeding the ball to playmaker Abdallah El-Said, whose delightful through ball over the top was latched onto by the Nigerian.
Ajayi made a superb turn evading his marker before striking towards goal, with the onrushing Zakareya notching home on the rebound after the Ahly main striker was denied by the keeper.
Unlike in the build-up to Ahly's opener, Ashour was caught in possession by an opponent before the attack resulted in William Jebor striking towards the near post, with keeper Sherif Ekramy thwarting his effort towards the end of the first half.
The second period did not bring a quite different affair until Ajayi managed to score himself his side's second goal of the night, thanks to a horrendous error from holding midfielder Brahim Nakach.
The Moroccan chested the ball towards the unmarked Ajayi at the edge of the six-yard box, with the Ahly striker easily sliding past the keeper to ensure Ahly‘s victory just 10 minutes from the end of regular time and take them top of the table.
