Ramzy to announce Egypt Olympic squad after Senegal's friendly The Olympic team squad for the 2012 London Olympic Games qualifiers will be announced Wednesday, after 'testing' more players
Egypt Olympic team coach Hani Ramzy revealed Monday that he will test more players in the second friendly against Senegal on Monday before announcing the final squad for the qualifier's games. Three days after the 1-1 draw with Senegal Olympic team, Egypt are set to face the same team in the second friendly on Monday as the two sides prepare for the 2012 London Olympic Games qualifiers to take place in Morocco this month. “We made use of the first friendly with Senegal as more players performed well to book a regular place in the final squad” Ramzy told Ahram Online. “I will test more players during today's friendly to pick the final 22-man squad, which will be announced on Wednesday” he added. “We will do our best to snatch the U-23 African Championship title and reach the Olympic Games to please the Egyptian people.” Amid their preparations, Ramzy's squad replaced the seniors in the last two meaningless matches of the 2012 African Cup of Nations qualifiers, against Niger and Sierra Leone, following the failure of the first team to qualify for the championship they won three successive times. The Pharaohs Olympic crew will travel to Morocco on Friday to take part in the U-23 African Championship that kicks off on 26 November. Egypt's U-23 team, which are drawn with Ivory Coast, South Africa and Gabon in the final phase of qualifiers, are bidding for their first qualification since 1992.
