Zamalek coach says will resign in case of losing African title
Published in Ahram Online on 11 - 10 - 2016

Zamalek coach Moamen Soliman said he will leave his post if his side loses the African Champions League title.
"If I fail to clinch the African Champions League title, I will resign. I will not go to trainings and will resign by phone in order not to embarrass anyone," Soliman told an Egyptian TV programme on Monday.
The Egyptian club are finalising preparations for the tournament's final against South Africa's Mamelodi Sundowns with the first leg away on Saturday.
"I hope I'm able to please the fans. I know how hungry they are to win this tournament," Soliman added.
Last month, the Whites lost to Morocco's Wydad Casablanca 5-2 in the second leg of the CAF Champions League semis away from home but they reached the final with a 6-5 win on aggregate.
This will be the Cairo-based club's first final since their last title in 2002.
The second leg will be held in Alexandria's Borg El-Arab stadium on Sunday 23 October.
A former Zamalek player in the 1990s, Soliman was initially hired as an interim coach following the sacking of Mohamed Helmi in late July, and has been tasked with restoring confidence in a side that lost the league title to archrivals Ahly.
Soliman quickly became the club's hero after guiding the team to win the Egypt Cup at the expense of Ahly before going through to the Champions League final. It was then decided that he would remain as the club's manager in late August.
