South Africa's Mamelodi Sundowns qualified for the African Champions League final for the first time since 2001 after overcoming a first-leg deficit to beat Zambia's ZESCO United 2-0 at home on Saturday. Liberian midfielder Anthony Laffor opened the scoring as early as the fifth minute with a shot from inside the area after skipping past his challenger. Sundowns would have already advanced on the away goal rule, given that they lost the first leg 2-1, but they ensured their progress with another goal four minutes past the hour mark. Percy Tau netted with a diving free header after beating the offside trap to send Sundowns to the final for the first time since they lost 4-1 on aggregate to Egypt's Ahly in 2001. Sundowns are likely to face another Egyptian side in Zamalek, who enjoy a four-goal lead before they meet Morocco's Wydad Casablanca in the away leg later on Saturday. The South Africans have never won Africa's prestigious club competition. (For more sports news and updates, follow Ahram Online Sports on Twitter at @AO_Sports and on Facebook at AhramOnlineSports.)
