AS Roma manager Luciano Spaletti has praised the performance of Egypt winger Mohamed Salah after scoring a goal during 4-0 Europa League group-stage victory over Romania's Astra at the Stadio Olimpico on Thursday. The 24-year-old continued his fine start to the season after latching onto a superb lofted through-ball from Francesco Totti before the ex-Chelsea winger found the net at the far post. "We trained ahead of the game as I did my best to make a combine between Salah and Totti," Spaletti told Italy's SkySport channel after the game. "I tried to make use of Salah pace and Totti's experience that will help the team and we gained it today when the leader lofted a through-ball to the Egyptian to find the net," the Roma coach added. "Salah's pace was useful for the team as he prevented the foes' front line from exhausting our defence," Spaletti said. Salah was then substituted in the 57th minute, making way for Belgium midfielder Radja Nainggolan.
