Egypt FA announces first league post-revolution draw Cairo derby between Ahly and Zamalek will be held in week 18 and 37 of the Egyptian Premier League
Amer Hussien, the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) competition committee president announced Monday results of the a schedule-draw of the first post-revolution Egyptian League. “The competition starts on 14 October,” `Hussein said. Title holders Ahly, who hold 36 trophies (7 successive), will start their race against powerful Haras El-Hodoud and they will meet arch-rivals Zamalek in a Cairo derby in round 18 and 37. Zamalek will play Wadi Degla while Ismaily will be hosted by Petrojet in the first round. Football activities' stoppage during and after January 25 revolution, that forced former president Hosny Mubarak to step down, forced the association to cancel relegation system this season, holding the league to19 clubs. Dakhliya, Ghazl El-Mahallah and Beni Suef were promoted to the top flight while Ittihad, Arab Contractors and Smouha survived relegation.
