Ghanaian striker Asamoah Gyan said on Monday that he had to leave Sunderland because Al Ain's offer to sign him was “too good to refuse”
The 25-year-old, who was Sunderland's top scorer last season with 10 Premier League goals, made a surprise move to Al Ain of the United Arab Emirates on a one-year loan deal, few days after coach Steve Bruce said he was staying put.
"I did not have a choice once Sunderland accepted Al-Ain's proposal. The offer was too good to refuse,'' Gyan told Sky sports.
Bruce expressed his frustration following the deal announcement, and doubts the Ghanaian will play for Sunderland again.
"No I don't, I don't believe that, I don't believe he's got a future here, I don't think he can,” Bruce was quoted as saying on Skysports.
"You can't leave this club and want to go the United Arab Emirates and we're going to welcome you back with open arms, I can't see it but you never know."
