10-man PSV hold on for 0-0 draw against Atletico Madrid

Ten-man PSV Eindhoven battled to a 0-0 draw with Atletico Madrid in the Champions League round of 16 on Wednesday, comfortably surviving more than 20 minutes after a red card for striker Gaston Pereira.
PSV coach Phillip Cocu said before the match that both sides would likely settle for 0-0, but he would have been far more satisfied than Diego Simeone with the goalless stalemate after his team held on after Pereiro's dismissal for two senseless fouls.
With its numerical advantage from the 68th minute, Atletico pressed forward relentlessly but could not find a way through PSV's defense.
In the night's other match, Manchester City beat Dinamo Kiev 3-1 in Ukraine to take a massive step toward the quarterfinals.
