President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi issued a presidential decree appointing 28 parliamentarians to Egypt's newly elected parliament on Thursday. The president also called on the parliament to convene for the first time on 10 January 2016. According to article 102 of the 2014 constitution, the president has the right to appoint 28 public figures as parliamentarians, at least half of which must be women. The appointees must not be members of one political faction, and they must have performed outstandingly in their professions. Egypt's new parliament is the largest in the country's 150-year parliamentary history, as it is composed of 596 MPs. Out of the total, 448 will be elected as independents, 120 as party-based deputies, and 28 appointed by the president. More to Follow http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/178824.aspx
