South Africa's striker, Mphela, out of Celtic's favour South Africa striker Katlego Mphela will have to wait for another European offer after failing to meet his 45-minute trial with Scotland's Celtics, who passed on signing him
Scotland team Celtic revealed that they won't sign Mamelodi Sundwons striker, Katlego Mphela, who was on trial with the club in a step to sign him this summer. The 26-year-old forward played only 45 minutes during his trial period with Celtic in a friendly against Wolves, but he failed to prove himself and failed to find the net. The Scotland club's spokesman Iain Jamieson confirmed that the team won't sign the Bafana Bafana scorer. “We can confirm that Celtic will not be signing Katlego Mphela," club spokesman tells KickOff.com. Mphela who scored 19 in 39 appearances for South Africa didn't meet the Celtic's coaching staff expectations. He played for French side Strasbourg between 2004 and 2006, but he returned home after failing to establish himself in the French League, playing 24 games without scoring. The South Africa star is seen now as a national hero after scoring a last-gasp killer against Egypt 1-0 last March to knock the seven-time African champions out of the race.
