Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan says he is pleased with the impact Benin's Stephen Sessegnon has made since joining Sunderland

Sunderland's Ghanaian striker Asamoah Gyan has praised Benin midfielder Stephen Sessegnon, who has been a key member of the English side's squad since joining early this year.
“I am very happy for Sess – I know him when we both played in France and he was a very good player even then,” Gyan said on Sunderland's official website on Friday.
“He didn't play much in the run-up to his move here so it was a difficult start when he joined the club, but he proved himself towards at the end of the season and has made an excellent start.”
Sessegnon, 27, joined Sunderland last January on a three-and-a half year contract from French outfit Paris Saint-Germain for £6 million.
He earned plaudits after producing a string of fine displays in the second half of the season as the Black Cats finished tenth in the 20-team Premier League table.
Earlier this month, Sunderland coach Steve heaped praise on Sessegnon, saying that he performs very well when he plays behind the lone striker in a 4-5-1 formation.
