Ghanaian striker Emmanuel Banahene netted a brace as Ismaily continued their fine run under coach Mido with a 3-1 home victory over promoted Ghazl El-Mahalla on Tuesday, their third successive Egyptian Premier League win. The 27-year-old, who joined Ismaily last January, opened the scoring on 27 minutes after heading home an inch-perfect cross from winger Shikabala, who is loan from Egyptian champions Zamalek. Substitute Karim El-Daw rifled home from the edge of the area to make it 2-0 with four minutes remaining before Banahene completed the rout in stoppage time after some good individual work from compatriot Torric Jebrin. Ramadan Rabie notched a late consolation for El-Mahalla. Former Tottenham, AS Roma and Ajax Amsterdam striker Mido, who had a brief stint as coach of Zamalek in which he led them to the Egypt Cup title in 2014, said he was not satisfied with the performance despite the win. "This was our worst match of the season, and I'm disappointed by the soft goal we conceded at the end," he told Nile Sports after the match. "But we have just returned from a long break, and it was important to get a victory tonight." Ahly, Zamalek and Ismaily have not played in the domestic league for over a month due to the commitments of Egypt's senior and U-23 sides. The victory lifted Ismaily to third with 13 points, five behind leaders Maqassa who have played two matches more. Holders Zamalek and their arch rivals Ahly still have four games in hand.
