Egypt goalkeeper Essam El-Hadary said he returned to Sudanese giants El-Merreikh to help them in their goalkeeping crisis. El-Hadary incurred the wrath of El-Merreikh after going AWOL last week amid reports suggesting that he sought to join Egyptian Premier League side Maqassa. El-Merreikh threatened to lodge a complaint with FIFA against El-Hadary, who made a U-turn and played in the team's 1-0 Sudanese league win over Ahly Shandi following the injury of deputy keeper Mohamed kamal. “I couldn't reject the club call after the injury of kamal. I am very happy to return to Sudan and get this warm welcome. I wanted to reconcile with the fans,” the veteran guardian said on his official website after the game. Reports in Sudanese media said on Tuesday that the club's angry fans jeered at him after the game, but the egyptian international denied that affirming that he has a strong relation with both the supporters and club managment. “Despite the recent fall-out with the club's board, I hope to continue my good performances to help the club keep its position on top of the league,” El-Hadary added. The former Ahly and Zamalek goalkeeper, who signed a three-year contract with El-Merreikh last January, recently announced that he will leave this summer, revealing that English second division team Leicester City and several other clubs are interested in his services. El-Merreikh's president Gamal El-Waly asked El-Hadary in a recent meeting to either disclose the offers he received or to keep quiet about his status with the club. The 38-year-old has hardly found stability since leaving Ahly in acrimonious circumstances in February 2008, spending brief stints with Swiss side Sion and Egyptian duo Ismaily and Zamalek.
