Shehata linked with Cameroon job
Cameroon are said to be in talks with former Egypt coach Hassan Shehata
Published in Ahram Online on 12 - 07 - 2011

The three-time African Cup of Nations winner Hassan Shehata is now tipped to take over struggling Cameroon, succeeding Spanish tactician Javier Clemente, according to the local media.
Reports have spread in Cameroon linking Shehata to the job with Clemente's days seeming to be drawing to an end.
The 61-year-old tactician was appointed in August 2010 with a precise task to rebuilt the squad and qualify the Indomitable Lions to the 2012 African Cup of Nations.
With the team's struggling in the qualifiers, Sports Minister Michel Zoah triggered speculations concerning the future of the coach.
“We will have to wait and see. There will be consequences in case of failure,” Zoah told the media last week.
According to the Cameroonian media, the minister is believed to be a big fan of Shehata who is known for his strict disciplinary code that made him put a side a striker of the caliber of Ahmed Hossam “Mido” in the CAN 2006.
The Indomitable Lions are now torn up by disciplinary problems and issues between the players like the latest rift between Samuel Eto'o and Alex Song who are even refusing to talk to each other.
A profile like the experienced Egyptian tactician could bring back order to the team and put it right back on the fast track.
“The nationality of the coach doesn't matter. It's his performances, experience and quality that really counts,” Zoah said.
The reports have stated that the Cameroon's officials have already started talks with Shehata who is said to be open for negotiations.
