Zidan in Cairo to negotiate Ahly move Mohamed Zidan held talks with Ahly officials in Cairo as the club looks to include him in their continental campaign
Egyptian giants Ahly have started negotiations with Borussia Dortmund striker Mohamed Zidan as they try to sign him this summer. According to Ahram Online, the 29-year-old had a meeting with Ahly's officials on Thursday for over four hours, discussing the details of his future contract with the club. It is believed that they had agreed terms on a three-year deal but yet nothing has been officially announced. The Egyptian champions are set to open talks with Bundesliga champions Dortmund in the next few days in order to hire him as soon as possible so he can be registered in their African squad and take part in their remaining CAF Champions League campaign. Zidan – who has just a year left on his contract with Dortmund – has repeatedly revealed his wish to join Ahly seeing that he has been relegated to the bench by coach Jurgen Klopp. The Pharaohs striker had an injury-plagued season but he is unlikely to recover his starting place at the newly-crowned German champions, leading to hopes for a fresh start in his homeland.
