An IED explosion near the house of a policeman in Egypt's North Sinai governorate late Friday missed the policeman but led to the collapse of a wall in a nearby house, injuring its inhabitants. The policeman's house was vacant at the time of the explosion. It was the target of a previous IED attack a few days earlier. The explosion lead to damage of nearby houses, including the house of a family of six who were injured and transported to hospital, the state news agency MENA reported. Egypt's army is currently fighting a campaign against a decade-long militant insurgency in North Sinai. Militants have killed hundreds of police and army personnel in the past year and a half in North Sinai, while the authorities have announced that hundreds of militants have been killed in military campaigns in the governorate. The Islamist group Ansar Beit Al-Maqdis has claimed responsibility for most attacks against security forces in Sinai. http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/132637.aspx
