April 6 Youth movement calls for “Save the Revolution” Friday, criticizing ruling military council 'Save the Revolution' Friday should call for fulfilment of the revolution's unmet demands, says April 6 Youth
The April 6 Youth movement has called on all Egyptians to take to the streets on “Save the Revolution” Friday to support the revolution's unmet demands. Fearing that the revolution is being hijacked, the movement calls on people to start marching from mosques and churches following Friday prayers and head to Egypt's main squares. Injy Hamdy, the movement's media spokesperson, said that the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces is ignoring people's demands and is taking decisions without engaging in a national dialogue, such as passing the political party law and the political participation law. She added that arrests have been on the rise, citizens are facing military trials and activists are being kidnapped by the state and tried as thugs. The movement has set the demands for “Save the Revolution” Friday as follows: the participation of political representatives in formulating election and political participation laws for Egypt's transitional period; postponing elections until an elections system is agreed upon; the formulation of a new constitution now via an elected council; cleansing all state ministries of corruption; cleansing all state security and judicial institutions of corruption to bring back security and justice; cleansing local institutions and governorates of corrupt officials; cleansing state media; ending military trials of civilians and releasing all political prisoners; promptly trying Mubarak, his family, all ex-regime figures and all those who contributed to pillaging the country's resources; and restitution of those resources to the Egyptian people.
