Egyptian and Qatari intelligence officials are engaged in reconciliation meetings in Cairo, Reuters reported on Wednesday. Qatari intelligence head Ahmed bin Nasser bin Jassem Al-Thani arrived in Cairo on Tuesday, other Egyptian and Gulf media outlets said. This comes ahead of an anticipated meeting next month between Egypt's president and the emir of Qatar in Saudi Arabia. Relations between the two states have been frosty since the 2013 ouster of Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi, whose government was backed by Qatar. Recent Saudi efforts to reconcile the two states seem to have led to a thaw. On Saturday, Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi met with a special envoy from Qatar's emir. A Saudi envoy was also present. On Monday, Qatari-owned Al Jazeera news network announced it was taking its controversial Egyptian service (Al Jazeera Mubasher Misr) off air. http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/118727.aspx
