Ahly's Fathi to return to Egypt after Arsenal trial
The Egypt and Ahly winger will extend his stay with his team following fruitless steps to joining English Premier League side Arsenal

Ahly right-winger Ahmed Fathi will return to Egypt in the next few days after a short trial in a step to joining English Premier League giants Arsenal did not come to fruition, Ahly football supervisor Alaa Abdel-Sadeq has announced.
Expressing interest in signing the Egypt star this summer, English Premier League side Arsenal had requested two weeks ago Fathi undergo a trial period with the team, but the Gunners finally signed France national team winger Mathieu Debuchy from Newcastle and halted negotiations with the Egyptian star.
The 29-year-old winger's contract with Ahly expires this summer, while the Cairo giants hope to extend the player's papers.
"Fathi confirmed in a telephone call that he will return to Egypt to extend his stay with team after finishing a trial with Arsenal," Abdel-Sadeq told Al-Ahram Arabic news website on Sunday.
Fathi is one of the Red Devils' most consistent performers, thanks to his steady defensive displays. The former Ismaily player joined Ahly in 2007, after leaving England's Sheffield, where he enjoyed little success.
He has experience with the English Premier League, having played for Hull City on loan in 2013.
