Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly on Thursday said King Felipe VI's visit to Cairo underscored a growing strategic partnership between Egypt and Spain, with both sides pledging to expand cooperation in investment, infrastructure and industry. Speaking at the Egypt–Spain Business Forum, Madbouly said the visit offered "a renewed opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to deepening bilateral ties," building on a February agreement between President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez to elevate relations to a strategic partnership. Madbouly highlighted reforms that Egypt has undertaken in recent years, including new investment laws, the golden licences to fast-track projects, and measures to resolve disputes with foreign firms. He said these steps, along with infrastructure upgrades, had created a more attractive climate for Spanish investment. Spain is already involved in several large projects in Egypt, including Talgo in rail transport, Grifols in plasma collection and production, and Siemens Gamesa in wind energy. Madbouly called them "practical examples of mutually beneficial partnership." The government, the prime minister added, is committed to offering legal and regulatory support, as well as tax and investment incentives tailored to priority sectors. He also praised cooperation with the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) in agriculture, irrigation and water management, adding that Egypt was keen to expand collaboration in infrastructure and national development projects. The prime minister called Egyptian and Spanish companies to seize the momentum of the visit to launch new ventures, expand investment, and build sustainable projects.
